We’ll be showing you 6 amazing ways to dress up avocado toast using simple, wholesome toppings. The bread is baked fresh from our kitchen using Rhodes Bake-N-Serv White Bread. You’ll love how you can just pop the frozen dough in a baking pan, let it thaw and rise, then bake. No mixing or kneading needed! It is also preservative-free, vegan, and non-GMO. Nothing beats home-baked bread, and Rhodes has certainly made it easy for everyone to enjoy them!
How to Make Vegan Avocado Toast
Let’s start with the basics - bread and avocados!
The Avocados. Make sure that you choose perfectly ripe avocados by gently pressing the surface with your thumb. It should feel firm but indent easily when pressed. It should not be too firm or too soft.
You can enjoy it two ways - sliced or mashed. If you prefer it mashed, just scoop the flesh out using a spoon and place it in a bowl. You can use a fork, masher, or food processor - depending on the texture you are aiming for. You can level up your mashed avocado by following this easy avocado spread recipe too. I added a dash of miso, garlic powder, and agave - it’s amazing!
The Toast. We used white bread in this recipe, but Rhodes also offers wheat bread if you are looking for a different option. Here’s how you make it:
- 1) Place the frozen dough in a greased loaf pan. Cover the pan with sprayed plastic wrap so it does not stick when the dough rises.

- 2) Let the dough rise for 4 to 7 hours until it is 1 inch above the top of the pan. The warmer your kitchen is, the quicker the dough will rise. So if you want to quicken the process, place it near a window or a working oven.

- 3) Carefully remove the plastic wrap and bake for 20 to 25 minutes in a preheated oven at 350 degrees F.
- 4) Once done, let it cool on a wire rack and enjoy! When making the avocado toast, cut the loaf into half-inch thick slices and place the slices in the toaster until the edges are golden and crunchy!

Note: Follow package instructions for the refrigerator thaw method.
The Best Vegan Avocado Toast Topping Ideas
Here are some of our favorite ways to enjoy vegan Avocado Toast! Get creative and try different toppings to keep your mornings exciting!

Avocado Mash with Fresh Strawberries. This fruity option is best for those who prefer to start their day with something sweet! You can also use other fruits and berries like blueberries, raspberries, mango, bananas, and apples.
Vegan Bacon with Tomatoes. Savory and hearty! For those who cannot start their day without plant-based bacon, this one will certainly make their day. The vegan bacon is made of seitan, a protein-rich vegan meat substitute.
Beans and Salsa. You can top it with Picco de Gallo to make it even more delicious.
Salt, Pepper, and Chili Flakes. If you want it simple but with a punch of heat! Just slice the avocados and sprinkle them generously with these seasonings. Yum!
Just Egg - In the mood for vegan egg for breakfast? This avocado with vegan egg on top will power you up until lunchtime!
Vegan Cheese with Hot Sauce. You can use any type of dairy cheese you like!
Helpful Tips
- Do not slice your toasts too thin. It should be thick enough to hold the weight of the toppings. Half an inch is ideal!
- I suggest slicing the avocado right before serving them. However, if you really need to make them ahead of time, brush the avocado slices with lemon juice to keep them from turning brown.
- If you like more texture in your avocado mash, just cut them in squares and use a fork to mash. A food processor will give you smoother consistency if that is what you are after.
- You can prep the bread and toppings ahead of time, but vegan avocado toast is always best enjoyed while the bread is warm and crunchy and the avocado is freshly sliced or mashed.
