In a small microwave-safe bowl, add the vegan butter, maple syrup, salt, cinnamon and cloves (if using). Microwave for 30 seconds, then whisk with a fork until smooth.
Rinse the acorn squash and cut it in half from the stem down. Scoop out the seeds and stringy pulp with a spoon.
Generously brush the cut sides of the squash with the maple glaze. Place the halves cut side up in the air fryer basket with space between them.
Air fry at 480 degrees Fahrenheit (250 degrees Celsius) for 15 minutes. Check with a fork, and if the squash isn’t tender, cook for another 5 to 7 minutes.
Drizzle with a little more maple syrup and a pinch of flaky salt, if you like, and serve warm.

Notes
If your air fryer only goes up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius), cook the squash for 20 to 25 minutes.
Cut the halves the same size and leave space between them so they cook evenly.
Cooking time depends on the size of your squash and your air fryer, so start checking at 15 minutes.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 to 5 days.
