air fryer
Ingredients
1
teaspoon
of neutral oil
1
tablespoon
of maple syrup
½
teaspoon
of vanilla
1
teaspoon
of brown sugar
½
teaspoon
of cinnamon
4
Honeycrisp apples
cored and sliced
Instructions
Mix the oil, maple syrup, vanilla, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a large bowl.
Add the apples and gently mix until evenly coated.
Place the apples and liquid in a single layer in the air fryer and cook at 375 degrees for 10 minutes.
Shake the basket and cook for 5 more minutes. If they aren’t soft enough for your liking, cook at 2-minute increments until they are.
Notes
Slice the apples evenly:
They will air fry evenly, so none are over or undercooked to your desired texture.
Adjust the sweetness:
When using sweet apples vs. tart apples, you may wish to adjust the amount of added brown sugar accordingly.
Don’t overcrowd the slices
: Otherwise, they steam but don’t become tender and wonderfully caramelized like we want.
